The Game & Big Hit – Paisley Dreams/P Fiction [Music Video]

Hit-Boy & Big Hit are bringing in the new year with new music. For their latest entry, the father-son duo join forces with multi-platinum rap star The Game on Paisley Dreams.

The timely release follows Big Hit’s seminal debut album, The Truth Is In My Eyes, which was executive-produced by his Grammy-winning son, Hit-Boy – who’s up for Best Rap Album and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical at the 2024 Grammys.

Paisley Dreams finds Hit-Boy reconnecting with The Game following 2022’s DRILLMATIC Heart vs. Mind LP. From inception to completion, it took no more than five days to finish the project. Last Thursday (Dec. 28), as HipHopDX previously reported, The Game linked up with Big Hit in the studio for a session. The latter shared a snippet of their work online, and two days later (on Saturday, Dec. 30), the West Coast mainstays shot the video for “Paisley Dreams” – the project’s title track.

Today, everything comes to fruition as a surprise New Year drop for fans. Alongside the new project arrives the aforementioned visual for “Paisley Dreams,” and an additional video for the album cut “P Fiction.” Watch above.

After establishing himself as one of hip-hop’s most coveted workhorses in 2023, now, Hit-Boy is hard at work putting his dad in a winning position. For starters, he produced and fully funded Big Hit’s first album, which is the ultimate gesture of good faith for someone that just served a 9-year prison sentence.

Big Hit has taken full advantage of his second chance at life, and his post-incarceration success is inextricably linked to his son. In other words, Hit-Boy is the glue that holds it all together. The two emcees are quickly becoming the next feel-good story in rap, choosing to remain independent and turning down major label deals along the way.

ABOUT BIG HIT:
Big Hit always knew that he was destined for greatness. The Pasadena native grew up in a two parent household where he was caught between two worlds: his mom was a devout Jehovah Witness and his dad embodied the “gangster” narrative in the truest sense. Hit’s fascination with hip-hop started to take form on the block. He burst onto the scene in the late ‘80s as a sharp-tongued battle rapper, participating in neighborhood sessions here and there without fully committing to the art form. As time went on, Hit had plans of honing his hustle (by any means necessary) but several run-ins with law enforcement derailed his pursuits. He spent the next 20 years of his life in prison. Upon his release, Hit officially launched his rap career with “Grindin’ My Whole Life” and “G’z Don’t Cry” before being incarcerated again. After serving a 9-year sentence, Hit resurfaced with a renewed sense of purpose and a different kind of ambition. He survived Level IV prison in Los Angeles County (LAC), and since his release, Big Hit has been recording hits with his son – 3X Grammy-winning producer Hit-Boy – like there’s no tomorrow. Each song, which includes “Reckless & Ratchet,” “Grindin’ My Whole Life, Pt. 2,” “Watch Out For The Riders” (released in partnership with Lowrider Magazine), “Boo Bop” (released in partnership with Amazon Music to celebrate hip-hop’s 50th anniversary), “Take Some Off Of That,” “Extra Clips,” and most recently “A$VP Chauncey / Load ‘Em Up,” is a testament to Hit’s drive to succeed. Now, with his debut solo album The Truth Is In My Eyes, Big Hit is ready to take his career to the next level.
