Tate McRae – The Making of ‘exes’ (Vevo Footnotes)
Teamwork is dreamwork! Tate says she and producer Ryan Tedder (of OneRepublic fame) knocked out the fabulous “exes” in a half-hour, a burst of studio creativity that she calls a “Hail Mary” move in our exclusive Footnotes interview. The visuals are an homage to classic woman singer videos, including Britney Spears’ “I’m A Slave 4 U,” and Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty.” Choreographer Sean Bankhead was asked to push the dance moves into the next-level zone, and Team Tate’s squad responded with coordination both gorgeous and provocative. The rodeo theme stems from the bronc-busting action the Calgary, Canada native took in a child, trading the ice setting of “greedy” for some dust and dirt. “exes” director Aerin Moreno says that once the shoot was underway, Tate’s star power became super obvious.
