Swedish multi-platinum artist / producer duo NOTD unveil a new single titled “Worst Thing” (feat. Kenzie) today via Island Records. The track perfectly integrates pop, electronic music, and just the right amount of rock swagger as high energy guitars glide across a danceable beat. This momentum collides with Kenzie’s unshakable and undeniable hook as she asks, “Would it be the worst thing if your car wouldn’t start and we had to fog up the windows when it gets dark just to keep us warm?”. The accompanying music video brings this vibe to life on screen. Kenzie and NOTD take over an apartment party shot through a grainy nostalgic filter with nineties fashion on point.
Regarding “Worst Thing,” NOTD said, “We did a zoom call with Kenzie in the midst of the pandemic and immediately connected. We wanted to find the right song to collab on together, and Worst Thing was the one. We’ve loved this song since day one, and Kenzie really killed it!!”
Kenzie added, “NOTD are the most genuine and funny boys I’ve ever met. It was such an amazing time working with them.”
The new single marks NOTD’s second release of the year, following “about you” (feat. Nightly,) which earned critical acclaim. Atwood Magazine observed, “In bringing all that makes NOTD together, they do not just integrate sounds in the current wave of EDM, but influences from all over. This includes an affinity for rock and alt pop.” Variance hailed it as “spellbinding,” and Indie Music Spin christened it “an irresistible Dance Pop Single.”
Alongside the DSP release of “about you” NOTD also dropped their genesis NFT collection – 69 ‘about you’ music NFTs – on the rapidly growing platform, Sound.xyz. The collection sold out immediately and trading volume has exceeded $50,000. A similar collection of ‘Worst Thing’ music NFTs will drop on Monday, May 16, 2022 on Sound.xyz.
All of this only begins to set the stage for the release of NOTD’s debut EP later this year. Get ready for more!
ABOUT NOTD:
Having eclipsed 1.4 Billion streams on Spotify alone and 2.5 Billion streams on all platforms, NOTD have continued their rollout of successful single releases. The global hit “I Don’t Know Why” with Astrid S kicked off this run, amassing over 130 million streams to date. They then teamed up with Nina Nesbitt for “Cry Dancing” and later Catello for the 2020 single “Nobody”. The latter has already amassed nearly 100 million total streams and counting in addition to spending five weeks at the #1 spot on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart. Dancing Astronaut attested, “NOTD remain hot on the campaign trail for household name status,” and One EDM raved, “The Fusion of old-school nocturnal pop and future house influence sets this track apart.” In 2019, NOTD had the most played track on US Dance Radio with the RIAA platinum-selling “So Close” featuring Georgia Ku and reached platinum status in the U.S. on their 2018 smash, “I Wanna Know” [feat. Bea Miller]. “So Close” was also nominated for Dance Song of the Year at the 2020 iHeart Music Awards and recently was certified platinum in the U.S.
