DreamDoll – Life In Plastic 3

Rising Bronx rapper and reality star DreamDoll returns with the mesmerizing new mixtape, Life In Plastic 3. Stream above via District 18 Entertainment / Warner Records. The third installment of the series, which first kicked off in 2017, includes the streaming hit “Ice Cream Dream” featuring French Montana as well as new tracks like “Fantasy” and “Misunderstood” that show off her irresistible cool and irrepressible personality. The latter track also arrives with a vulnerable video.

Sexy and empowering, “Fantasy” sets the tone for Life In Plastic 3. DreamDoll leaves nothing to the imagination as she describes her ideal man. Employing an impressive double-time flow, the MC showcases her abilities over a propulsive bassline and synth scratches reminiscent of early ‘00s rap. Whether discussing physical attributes or financial bonafides, DreamDoll spits with confidence and palpable joy.

Another highlight is project-opener “Misunderstood,” which finds the artist opening up about her past over emotional piano chords. “You grow up like this, it’s only right to be heartless,” she spits. “You gotta learn quick: take a shot or be the target.” The song’s introspective tone is reflected in the accompanying video, which stars DreamDoll walking the streets of New York in a plastic bubble—revealing all of herself while still remaining distanced from the world around her. Like an astronaut finding meaning as they float through space, she raps from her protective cocoon, thinking deeply as she observes the world around her.

Life In Plastic 3 also includes the French Montana-assisted hit “Ice Cream Dream” as well as raucous party jams like “Ass For Days” and “Twerk School.” When she isn’t dropping her own songs, DreamDoll is an in-demand feature artist, recently popping up on Kash Doll’s “ABOW” and King Combs’ “Gas You Up.”

Over the past few years, DreamDoll has experienced a rapid ascent, building momentum with well-received singles like “You Know My Body” featuring Capella Grey, “Ah, Ah, Ah” with Fivio Foreign, and “Different Freestyle.” She’s also become beloved by critics, earning features in V Magazine, Nylon, Office, SPIN, Allure, and more.

With Life In Plastic 3, DreamDoll once again returns to center stage, where she raps about life in the projects and the view from her mansion with poise, humor, and transcendent technical ability. This Sunday, she’ll perform for thousands in her hometown at Rolling Loud New York.

About DreamDoll:
As DreamDoll sees it, she has a distinct advantage as an MC. Yes, she’s a deft technical rapper with a preternatural gift for melody. Sure, her status as a celebrity thanks to her role on Love & Hip-Hop has gained her some admirers and 5 million followers. But plenty of others possess those attributes. What sets DreamDoll apart is her appetite to improve. “It takes a lot to see your flaws and know your errors and where you could be better,” the Bronx-born rhymer says. “I was hard on myself and self-criticism changed my career.” That maturity is evident from the opening moments of the finale of her three-part mixtape series, Life In Plastic 3. From her early days in the Bronx to her emergence with hits like 2020’s “Watchu Like” and 2021’s “Oh Shhh,” DreamDoll has placed a premium on personality and confidence. On the new project, she wanted to reveal a complexity to her work that reflects her growth as a person. On “Misunderstood,” which finds the artist opening up about her past over emotional piano chords, she raps cooly about the necessity of staying alert and calling her shots. DreamDoll is a perfectionist, but it’s that same quality that makes her a star. This determination animates her entire career as she moves forward: There are more acting roles in the pipeline, plus a makeup line in the works. With a schedule that busy, lesser artists might feel tired. But DreamDoll has learned to love the grind. “Working keeps me focused,” she says. “It keeps me going.”
