DC The Don, the enigmatic and electrifying rap star in the making, adds to his red-hot momentum with a brand new video single, “BEST FRIEND ONLY,” available today on all streaming platforms.
He continues to build excitement for his hotly anticipated forthcoming album REBIRTH, due this fall. Ahead of its release, DC instantly enchants listeners with warm synths that wrap around a slick drumbeat as he pleads, “Tell me how you feeling,” while trying to make sense of his emotions. In tandem with the new single, DC shares the accompanying video for his quakingly tender love song.
The video finds DC on the hunt for a genuine connection. As he deals with matters of the heart, DC urges his partner to let go of her pain to move forward, while admitting his own struggles with detachment – WATCH ABOVE.
“‘BEST FRIEND ONLY’ is really about the emotional rollercoaster of a relationship that’s falling apart because of misunderstandings and unresolved pain,” DC states. “I wanted to capture that feeling of being caught between the high life and the emptiness that comes with it, while still craving something real. It’s about the struggle to hold on, knowing that if we don’t let go of the past, we’ll end up as just distant memories of each other.”
DC’s last two releases, “GOD LEVEL” and “BEST FRIEND ONLY,” are paired with narratively connected music videos. Both visuals provide a glimpse of the character Lucy, the Milwaukee rapper’s co-star and love interest.
On the fast track towards a major mainstream breakthrough, DC The Don struggles with the conflicting emotions of fame and the weight of superstardom, using music as a medium to soundtrack his everyday life experiences.
